.What skills have you developed through this module and how effectivly do you thinkyou have applied them?
I have definitely improved my confidence skills. I never used to be able to show people my work nor could i confidently talk about my work to others , but I believe in my work more this year. I'm totally focused and determined to evolve as a designer. I've also changed the way I design. I think more logically this year and try and get the message out there first before I look at the visuals of it. I've learnt just how important communicating your message is. When your works in the real world you can't always be there to back it up and justify why you did that or how you did this. So that's constantly going around in my head whilst I'm designing. I've applied this to all of my work this module and personally, I think I've succedded.

What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?
Previously I would get a chunk of google images for a specific brief
and stick them in my sketchbook amongst all the designs for that brief. It made it hard for me to go back to that research as a reference for another brief in the future. But I've learnt to keep them on this blog so I can always come back to different bits of research.

As a designer I'm consantly seeing new design that inspires me and I think the internet is a brilliant platform for that. I know people can look down at internet research but I've got into this daily habit of looking at designers blogs/design sites and other blogs such as www.itsnicethat.com
some of the best work I've seen has been online, and thats because the work you see in the real world is done by professionals and only scrapes the surface of all the graphic design out there. I've seen first year/second/third year students come out with beautiful peices of design that makes me think" Wow, I wish i did that" so I always try and make a note of where I've seen the pieces of design for future reference.

What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

Logic/ideas. As previously mentioned I'm always taking into consideration how other people would read my work.  I think it really shows in my work. I'm trying to make clever/good ideas into simple design.

what weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?
I need to make note of my mistakes. I'm still abit concerned of putting them down in fear of people thinking I'm making simple/stupid mistakes. I also need to get down all of my ideas and explore more approaches of an idea. When in seminars. Fred would show something and I would think " Yes! that's how I'm going to do it" and fall in love with it. I need to get out of the habit of falling in love with my first idea.

Identify five things you will do differntly next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

  1. Explore more ideas.
  2. Work out of my comfort zone more.
  3. Get more research. I need to dive deeper in order to know what I'm doing fully and I can always refer back to them whilst backing up my work.
  4. Document my work more.
  5. Manage my project time effecivly so I'm not doing allnighters. This will help me feel better the next day and I can move on and get other things done whilst staying focused.
